Working aquatic-elephants like Rajan used to be a regular sight in the Andaman Islands, south of India, but this 60-year-old five tonne Asian elephant is the last of his kind. Thanks to the introduction of motor boats and other energy-saving technology, Rajan no longer needs to swim miles between islands to work for his masters, but can now enjoy swimming purely for pleasure. Rajan still swims for ten minutes twice a day, completing about 500 yards before heading back to shore. Brazilian Photographer, Daniel Botelho, 30, travelled to the Andaman Islands in the Indian Ocean after hearing stories of islanders swimming with the giant beasts. He said: “I almost got killed by the elephant during one photo shoot. Suddenly a swell came and took me and the elephant by surprise. I was stuck in the sand because of the crash of the wave. He did his best not to kill me - I felt him rolling on top and away from me.” Picture: Daniel Botelho / Barcroft Media

The Captiol Couture tumblr is a great idea - I love that a movie is using tumblr in this way. But it has a few flaws that are bugging me - for one, putting all the pictures in the text so they don’t show up when you reblog the post.
This gif of Effie shows her wearing Alexander McQueen shoes, also both this entry and this entry mentions Alexander McQueen as being vintage. This is giving Suzanne Collins’ novels a backstory that they didn’t have. Are we supposed to believe that the Hunger Games universe is set in the future of our current timeline? I always thought it was set in an alternate timeline branching off of our timeline from around the 1930’s and that it was happening around the 1950’s. If you have some examples from the book of when it is supposed to be set, please reblog this and add them. When I was read the series, I kept waiting for some mention of a when and where, and the lack of it was frustrating, but I might have missed something.
Also, and this is a fashion purist thing, they have Thierry Mugler’s most infamous piece The Chimera Dress labeled as being MUGLER, which no, that’s wrong. Nicola Formichetti is the designer of MUGLER and he did not design that beautiful piece of fanatastical art, the genius that is Thierry Mugler did, for his Fall Couture 1997 show.
